After just a few months of the official start of our activities we organized the first charity ball under the banner of CORDARE, from which the total revenue will be used for the scholarships for talented young people and support for the institutions that on a daily basis help the needy. The mayor of Dabrowa Tarnowska, Krzysztof Kaczmarski, took a honorary patronage over the Ball. And famous football player Tomasz Rząsa was a special guest at the ball.
Initiative to organize the ball was kindly approved by the community of Powiśle Dabrowskie, and also by the residents of the neighborhood. Over one hundred distinguished guests participated in the ball. Councilors, teachers, local government officials, politicians, clergymen, businessmen, representatives of various institutions and professions, in other words good-hearted people, who accepted the invitation and supported the efforts of CORDARE.
The event was organized on 12th November 2016 in the restaurant of the Cristal Park Hotel in Dabrowa Tarnowska. The ceremony started with the gala performance of handing ten scholarships to the talented young people, who were chosen by the foundation to be honored in the school year 2016/17.
Among the honored ones there were university students, high school students, secondary and primary school pupils. Two institutions were also granted financial support (details in section ‘activity’).
Ceremony was enriched by the performance of the children and youth folk group BOBROWIANIE, working under the care of the Municipal Cultural Centre in Żabno. The evening was also enriched by the common singing of patriotic songs with reference to the National Independence Day.
Guests supported to achieve the foundation goals not only by the participation in the ball, but also by active taking part in the auction of valuable items. Among the gifts donated to the charity auction were, among others, gloves of J. Dudek, t-shirts of T. Rząsy and Gorski’s Orły, signed ball and picture of the Polish national football team, jewelry, paintings, books, coupons and vouchers for various services and goods (cosmetic, dental, automotive, sports and leisure, clothing, ophthalmic and optical), accommodation in Switzerland, the luxurious couch, handiwork, candle and scented oil sets. The auction generated revenue of over 12 000 PLN. The total sum will be donated for educational scholarships.
It was no coincidence that there is a tree and a heart in the advertising materials of the foundation. They both symbolize giving, sharing of the good and at the same time supporting the development of another human being and of a worthy activity. Another important symbol is a candle in the foundation logo, handed during the ceremony to the youth and the distinguished institutions.
The words of Edmund Bojanowski come to mind that may be rephrased into wishes – I wish we could be as the candle, which burns and guides others.
The Administration and the Council of the Foundation CORDARE is convinced that selfless ‘burning’ for the good of others is meaningful, and there are a lot of of people identifying with such a life credo.
This belief was strengthened in us by the guests of our first charity ball. We would like to express our gratitude to the participants and to all persons who supported the organizing of it.
